The Power of a Giver

Giving is one of the most cherished values of Torah life—but do we truly understand what it means to be a giver?

Of course, we give money, time, advice, and support. But truly genuine chessed needs even more. It requires vision, sensitivity, responsibility, and the courage to see another person fully—even when it is uncomfortable.

In The Power of a Giver, Rabbi Meyer Yedid—renowned Rav of Congregation Shaare Zion, Beloved Rosh Yeshivah, educator, inspiring speaker, and author of The Power series—presents a compelling Torah vision of chessed. Drawing on Tanach, Chazal, and the teachings of the great Torah giants—from Avraham Avinu through the Beis HaLevi, Rav Hutner, and Rav Wolbe—Rabbi Yedid reveals giving as a proactive, perceptive, and deeply transformative way of living.

This sefer challenges the assumption that kindness is instinctive or effortless, demonstrating instead how chessed refines the giver, demands inner discipline, and reshapes one’s character. More profoundly, it reveals how living as a giver frees a person from self-focus and brings lasting simcha—a joy that is steady, meaningful, and rooted in purpose.

Written with warmth yet firm conviction, The Power of a Giver explores how a true giver’s mindset transforms parenting, marriage, community, and avodas Hashem. Through penetrating insights, real-life illustrations, and practical guidance, Rabbi Yedid calls on readers to rethink what they believe about kindness—and to discover how genuine giving becomes a path to personal and spiritual greatness.

This is a sefer for anyone who seeks not only to give more, but to give more truly—to become someone who learns how to see another person, and in doing so, becomes greater himself.
