Service of the Heart

Rabbi Moshe Wolfson, revered Mashgiach Ruchani of Mesivta Torah Vodaath, has inspired three generations of students, through personal example and through his uplifting shmuessen (ethical discourses). Tefillah, prayer, is a topic close to his heart, and the impact of his discourses on the subject has been extraordinary. Beis Medrash Emunas Yisroel in Brooklyn, where Rav Wolfson's serves as rav, was founded by his students and can rightfully be described as a bastion of impassioned tefillah.

In this book, Rabbi Shimon Finkelman, a talmid of Rav Wolfson, brings together a magnificent collection of the Mashgiach's discourses on tefillah. These essays will make us improve our tefillah and utilize our times of prayer to forge a closer relationship with our Creator. Rav Wolfson's unique, original style will give us a greater appreciation and love for Hashem and His Torah, and give us new insight into the love that He has for every one of us.

In addition to expositions on the daily prayers, the book includes his discourses on the holy cities of Eretz Yisrael and how they relate to tefillah. There is also a section on the season of repentance -- Elul and the Days of Awe.

Reading Service of the Heart: The Beauty and Essence of Tefillah is an elevating experience. It will leave the reader inspired to incorporate its lessons into his own life.
